Sunday Cara: Next week will be better! Even if it’s not, I have pink glitter fingernails!
Monday Cara: My dog ran away twice! Came back twice, muddy! Was late for work due to my dumb dog! Dogs are the worst! Never get a dog! They cuddle at night to make you forget how awful they are when they are awake! Got stuck at work late! Only got three hours of sleep last night! Thank god for my nails!
I’m over it already. Nothing can ruin me. I am made of marble and coated with gold. Also, I’ve just been thinking a lot about how I need some cervical cancer to put my life problems in perspective, so that’s helping. Just imaging my vagina ravaged with cancer. It’s just really hard to be upset over other things when you think about your sex organs being ruined. Do you want to date me so bad right now? The answer is yes, you do.
There is this mother with a little girl, 4 or so, who comes in to my work with her brother who is just a few years her senior. They are the cutest children I have ever seen, and often ask for hugs on their way out, and I swear my heart melts a little more each time they do.
Today the girl came in with a friend of the same age. They twirled around the bank and I told them they must be the best ballerinas I’ve ever seen. They showed me various tricks, which mostly looked like falling down, and I clapped and laughed and praised.
I waved good-bye and they left. The mother put them in the car, and then quickly popped her head back in.
“(redacted) just said that ‘Cara is my sister and I love her’ and her friend said ‘she is beautiful.”
And like, holy shit. We all know 4 year old girls have a whack sense of beauty because, like, duh. While some people have strange taste and could maybe say something positive about this face situation I have going on, I am certain, and not at all sad to say, that I am not fucking beautiful. I’m fine with it! (Unless I’m drunk or PMSing or just emotional!) You should be, too!
But it was a much better pick-me-up than thinking of being diagnosed with cervical cancer. And like, damn. I love those kids so much.
